Your chance to shine with your NHS

Patients’ real life health stories are being showcased on this website to celebrate the good work of Nottinghamshire’s NHS.

The pioneering online project, ‘MyNHS’, is being launched on the revamped website of NHS Nottinghamshire County - www.nottspct.nhs.uk – from 02 November.

This is believed to be the first project of its kind in the entire NHS, and is part of a number of innovative approaches being used by NHS Nottinghamshire County to engage with local people.

The Smith family’s story shows how they shed more than 13 stone thanks to a family-friendly weight management programme MEND (Mind Exercise Nutrition Do it!) in Gedling.

Another film aims to raise awareness of breastfeeding in Nottinghamshire, where rates still remain low.

Dan Roland, Video Journalist from NHS Nottinghamshire County has made the films and hopes this new way of communicating with the public will be a success.  He said: “I'm really looking forward to seeing how ‘MyNHS’ develops over the coming months.  I want to be inundated with ideas for personal films from you, so get watching and get in touch!"

Matt Youdale, Director of Communications from NHS Nottinghamshire County said: “The NHS in Nottinghamshire does fantastic things every day. We want to celebrate those - and we are inviting people to share their stories with us.  We’re excited that we are the first NHS organisation to do this, because we hope it will help to raise understanding about the local NHS.”

If anyone from Nottinghamshire wants to share their stories about how the NHS has helped them or a loved-one they can get in touch with the Communications Team on 01623 673130 or email communications.team@nottspct.nhs.uk.
