Patient Participation Group
Patient participation groups
Patient Participation refers to patients taking an active interest in their health care and most Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) operate within GP surgeries and health centres.
Their priorities are developed and agreed locally in order to meet local needs and to reflect the interests and energies of the participants. For more details about how PPGs work and the benefits they can bring to practices, contact the National Association for Patient Participation (NAPP).
Growing Patient Participation
The Department of Health is working with the Royal College of General Practitioners, the British Medical Association, the NHS Alliance and the National Association for Patient Participation (NAPP) on a national initiative. The campaign aims to encourage more practices to form a PPG as well as developing existing PPGs. Details of the campaign are available via NAPPs website where there are useful and supporting resources available.
There are currently 37 PPGs within NHS Nottinghamshire County. For further information about PPGs, where they are located and to request advice on how to set one up, please contact the Patient & Public Involvement Team ppi@nottspct.nhs.uk This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
