Nottingham North and East Consortium
The Nottingham North & East Consortium (NNEC) is a group of 21 GP practices working together in the Practice Based Commissioning scheme (PBC).
The consortium comprises of GP practices in the areas of Arnold, Burton Joyce, Carlton, Colwick, Daybrook, Eastwood, Gedling, Giltbrook, Hucknall, Lowdham, Mapperley & Netherfield who plan and buy local health services for their population. Visit their website
NNEC Local Priorities - the NNEC’s local commissioning objectives for 2009/10 will include completing any outstanding actions from 2008/09, as detailed in the NNEC’s PBC Plan for 2008/09, and additionally to take forward actions on the below list of identified priority areas.
The NNEC will additionally seek to obtain views from all constituent practices and from other stakeholders, including known community groups, on other areas of need. This will mean that in broad terms for the purposes of this section, the following is a list of currently identified priorities but it may well be added to following consultations with stakeholders:-
• Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder / Pulmonary rehabilitation
• Diabetes
• Anticoagulation / International Normalised Ratios (INRs)
• Sexual Health including contraceptive services and teenage pregnancies
• Emergency and unscheduled care including injury minimisation
• Heart Failure
• Headache pathway
• Obesity
• Increased partnership work with Social Services
• Alcohol issues
• Smoking cessation
• Falls prevention
• Mental health
• Development of Citizen Advice Bureau sessions in primary care
• Increased knowledge of the PBC agenda amongst all NNEC practice staff
• Review of links with Care Homes and increased joint working possibilities
• Consideration of an NNEC community early pregnancy support service
