Many elderly people in Nottinghamshire are more likely to fracture their hip than in other parts of England.
By 2014 we plan to reduce such hospital admissions by 17%.
Why? Falls cost the local NHS £13m a year. One in five of those who fracture a hip die within 12 months, half never regain full independence.
How? More assessments for those at risk, bone-strengthening drugs where appropriate, closer working with care homes and social services.
