Workforce
NHS Nottinghamshire County serves a very diverse population. Equality of opportunity is central to everything that we do, as a service provider, commissioner and as an employer.
The Workforce Directorate along with the PCT works hard to promote equality and diversity and build on our commitment to Equality & Diversity.
NHS Nottinghamshire County recognises that any form of discrimination is unacceptable and aims to address any forms of discrimination that are reported to the organisation. We seek to utilise and develop the talents and resources of all employees irrespective of race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origins, religious beliefs, gender, marital status, age, sexual orientation or disability. We actively recruit and promote people from all backgrounds; at every level and across all professions, which results in a workforce that is reflective of the local community, we serve.
As an employer we have also met the criteria to use the Employment Service Disability (Two Ticks) symbol which signifies a positive approach to job applicants with disabilities.
We believe that by promoting equality and diversity amongst our staff we will be able to create a better understanding of the needs of our local community and therefore translate that into being able to provide improved person centred care.
The PCT has signed up to Mindful Employer. The mindful employer is aimed at increasing awareness of mental health at work and providing ongoing support for employers in the recruitment and retention of staff. For more information click here: http://www.mindfulemployer.net/
The Workforce Directorate are working on equality impact assessments on all HR policies and services to identify issues and are maintaining the progress against our Strategic Equality Impact Assessment Action Plan.
NHS Nottinghamshire County takes its commitment to equality and diversity seriously and the Workforce Team publishes monitoring data showing the breakdown of our workforce and the impact some employment processes have on different staff groups. This information is publicised on an annual basis and the composition of the workforce is regularly reported to the PCT Board.
