Single Equality Scheme

NHS Nottinghamshire County are committed to promoting equality, valuing diversity and combating unfair treatment improving patient experiences by achieving excellence.
We are committed to ensuring that current staff, potential staff and NHS service users will not be discriminated against on the grounds of social circumstances or background, gender and gender identity, race, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, belief and non-belief.
As a commissioning PCT, we will work with staff, partners, providers, patients and communities to improve the health of our population and reduce health inequalities for Nottinghamshire.
Our Single Equality Scheme 2010 2013,demonstrates how we will support the equality duties and ensure robust monitoring and comprehensive compliance.
In light of the requirements of a Single Equality Scheme and new legislation, we have decided to incorporate individual Equality Schemes; Disability, Race and Gender into one document. This also includes responsibilities covering sexual orientation, gender identity, age, religion and belief. Social and economic deprivation factors are considered across all 7equality strands. This is an approach supported by the Department of Health andthe new Equality Bill For a fairer future.
Our Single Equality Scheme 2010 2013 action planis monitored through the Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Committee; subgroups to this committee report on progress, additional initiatives andprojects on a bi-monthly basis. Theaction plan will be updated on this webpage following each Equality, Diversityand Human Rights Committee meetings.
