Services to keep you healthy
NHS Nottinghamshire County commissions a range of services to support people seeking a healthier lifestyle. This includes a team of community nutritionists and dieticians. The team oversees a range of activities, including:
-
The 5 a day initiative - encouraging everyone to have portions of fruit or vegetables every day
-
Big Cooks, Little Cooks - getting parents and children cooking together
-
Weight management sessions - combining healthy eating and exercise
-
Baby Cafes - weaning support for mums, alongside nurseries, clinics and Sure Start centres
-
School workshops
We also commission a service called MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition...Do it!). This helps children and their families become fitter, healthier and happier by offering free healthy living programmes in the local community.
Watch our film about how one Nottinghamshire family has benefited from MEND.
